COMMUNITY PROJECT: WALDORF SCHOOL GARDEN

We are proud to be a part of the Central Virginia community and strive to help provide educational and experiential opportunities like the Waldorf School Garden. School gardens are an amazing way to introduce students to the natural world around them, from biology and soil science to the agri-economy and perseverance. These students will experience growing their own vegetables, working together to take care of a working garden, and get the satisfaction of watching that hard work pay off. These are lessons for life and set students up for a long term commitment to their local environment. Understanding the life cycle of organic material is essential to understanding the impacts of climate change on our planet, and specifically our soils. Nutrient deficient soils grow nutrient deficient plants and vegetables - we are what we eat!

Projects like school community gardens will go a long way toward improving both our community and environment.
